What is a uPVC profile?
Before answering the question, “What is a uPVC profile?”, we must first familiarize ourselves with the PVC profile.
PVC profile is a profile made of polyvinyl chloride and plasticizers are used to make it soft and flexible. Now, if no plasticizer is used, it can be UPVC profile. So easily!
Types of Upvc profiles in double-glazed doors and windows
Frame profile
This profile is used as a round frame in Upvc doors and windows. In terms of dimensions, this profile has 6 cm and 7 cm cross sections, but there are 5 cm and 8 cm cross sections in the product portfolio of some companies, which are rarely used. The levels of different sections are produced with the name of the series.
Mullion’s profile
The cutting surface of the mullion profile is T-shaped and is used as a horizontal or vertical window divider. For example, a mullion is used for the inscription above the window. If we want to categorize the types of mullion profiles, they are divided into the following sets:
⇐ Mullion series 60: used next to the set of 6 cm profiles.
⇐ Mullion series 70: with a width of 7 cm, it is used next to the profiles of the 7 cm series.
⇐ Movable mullion: a profile that is screwed to the opening frame and moves along with the opening. The movable mullion profile is used in French double-glazed doors and windows, where both sashes open side by side.
⇐ Sliding inscription mullion: The appearance of this mullion is completely different from other mullions due to the different structure of the sliding profile. This profile is used as a horizontal divider in sliding windows
Opening profile or sash
As it is clear from the name of this profile, the sash profile is used as an opening in a double-glazed window. The standard shape of this profile is S-shaped and it is classified into the following types:
⇐ Window opening profile: Window opening is the most used opening profile in all types of UPVC doors and windows.
⇐ Door opening profile: The difference between the door opening profile and the window is in its dimensions. In this way, the profile of the door sash is larger in terms of height. The opposite picture shows the difference between a double-glazed door and a double-glazed window.
⇐ Sliding opening profile: Sliding series profiles can be used only in sliding double-glazed windows.
